Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has underlined that he is a prophet of God not a soothsayer or a fortune teller.
In his sermon about dynamics of prophecy during a Monday Night Diplomatic Service, the Prophet took time to explain the difference between fortune tellers/soothsayers and the Prophet.
“Some people, whilst in church, complain saying, ‘Why did the Prophet just pass me by without saying a word?’ Listen: I speak what God tells me to tell you or tell nations. I don’t speak my mind. I act according to His will and not my own.
“Whatever I say to a person or a nation comes from what God tells me. I only communicate what God tells me to. That is why prophets are considered controversial.
“We tell people and nations what God wants them to know; not what they want to hear,” he said.
He added that fortune tellers and soothsayers speak whatever people want to hear, that is why they can say anything to anyone who comes to them.
But most importantly, soothsayers and fortune tellers use demonic spirits as a basis of their foretelling; Prophets on the other hand, solely depend on the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit alone.
