Major 1’s Daughter, Wendy Harawa, Wins Global Music Award

The undisputed Lilongwe based ECG worshipper and a renowned gospel artist, Malawi’s own Wendy Harawa returns home as the Maranatha Global Award Winner, crowned at the ceremony which was held in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital over the weekend.

It was a colorful function, dominated by great Christian musical talent from across Africa and abroad, share the stage and rubbed shoulders with Wendy as she climbed up the steps to be the newly crowned Maranatha Global Music Award queen after rising above her competitors in the top 15 finalists.

“Performing the award winning song “Chisomo” at the grand stage of them all was amazing and it is an awesome feeling” Wendy said.

“It was my spiritual father, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri who told me to go home compose a gospel song and today it is an award winning song” She added.

She could not contain the joy, but without hesitation, gave glory to God and expressed her gratitude to the Prophet and Prophetess Mary Bushiri for introducing her to Jesus Christ. Special thanks went to her mother “Olive Harawa”, then to “Jimmy De Psalmist” and “Lulu” who are featured in the song.

“I just want to scream! I am so over the moon! Malawi won it, and God of Major 1 has done it for us”, she said.

Wendy Harawa now joins the likes of “Mteweti Wambali Mkandawire” Malawi’s gospel greats with various prestigious awards under his belt
